Feeling like you’ve swallowed a baby rattle? Antimonium tartaricum might be your ticket to silencing that noisy chest. When looking for homeopathy for coughs, this powerhouse remedy is at the top, affectionately known as “Ant tart” in homeopathic circles. It is derived from tartar emetic – an antimony and potassium tartrate compound. Don’t worry; we’re not asking you to swallow tartars here!

Ant tart: Superstar Homeopathy for Coughs
Ant tart shines brightest when dealing with respiratory issues, particularly those stubborn, wet coughs that sound like you’re gargling gravel. These coughs are worse in damp, cold weather with very little mucus coughed up. Chiefly, it’s instrumental for:
- Bronchitis
- Pneumonia
- Asthmatic conditions
- Elderly patients with chest congestion and/or emphysema

How to Take It
Typically, Ant tart is taken in 6C or 30C potency. For acute conditions, dissolve 3-5 pellets under the tongue every 4-6 hours. Follow this same plan with any homeopathy for coughs.
My Favorite Story About Ant Tart
If you’ve taken my Legacy of Healing class (which starts in February), you’ll hear this story. It’s my favorite example of using Ant Tart. When my youngest was born, she sounded like she was breathing underwater. Her breaths were very wet and rattly. I gave her a dose of Ant Tart 6c—one dose. Immediately, her breathing cleared up! I was amazed at how fast it worked!

The Science Behind the Magic
Ant tart works on the principle of “like cures like.” In large doses, it can actually cause respiratory distress. However, homeopathic doses stimulate the body’s natural healing response to clear congestion and ease breathing. It’s like sending a tiny SWAT team into your lungs to kick out the mucus squatters!
Remember, homeopathy isn’t about suppressing symptoms but supporting your body’s innate healing wisdom. So don’t be surprised if that cough gets a bit more productive before it clears up. That’s just Ant Tart doing its job!
So, try Ant Tart next time you feel like a human baby rattle. Your lungs (and your family’s eardrums) will thank you!
