You will want to buy all the remedies as you start using homeopathy. I know I did! But staring at a list of over 3,000 remedies will be completely overwhelming. I have compiled a list of the top 10 remedies for you. (at least in my opinion)
Where do I start?
When first learning about homeopathy, knowing where to start when buying remedies is overwhelming. I felt like the girl in Willie Wonka screaming, “I want it all!” My budget was singing a different song entirely. If you are like me, I recommend you take some time and think about what your family needs. Every family has different needs. I can guarantee that I will have at least one child vomit on a road trip. However, we rarely get bronchitis. In this situation, you would focus on remedies for gastric concerns first. Eventually, get the bronchitis ones, too. Because I can promise you it will be needed at some point.
My List
I have compiled a list of the top 10 remedies when just starting homeopathy—well, in my opinion. If you ask another homeopath or another mom, you might get a different set of remedies. That’s okay. Let’s call this a jumping-off point, and you can go from there.
1. Arsenicum
Arsenicum (affiliate link) is the number one remedy for food poisoning. I make sure to bring it whenever we travel. It only takes one time of 10 people having food poisoning while driving through the night on a 12-hour road trip to learn that lesson. Arsenicum is also suitable for anxiety, restlessness, thirst for sips, and any type of burning pain that is better from heat.
2. Belladonna
Belladonna (affiliate link) is a good choice for complaints that start suddenly. This is a good remedy for fevers that run hot and cause delirium, have dry heat, and great pain. You can read all about my love of Belladonna HERE.
3. Bryonia
Bryonia (affiliate link) is one of my favorite first aid remedies because it is so good for sprains and joint pain. Often, complaints start slowly, and the pain is worse from the slightest movement.
4. Chamomilla
Chamomilla (affiliate link) is for teething complaints and any unbearable pain. The person needing it is usually very angry. It is the number one remedy for caffeine headaches as well. You can read why you need Chamomilla HERE.
5. Gelsemium
Complaints needing Gelsemium (affiliate link) usually start slowly. The person appears apathetic, and they are generally thirstless. You can read about other reasons to have Gelsemium HERE.
6. Mag phos
Mag phos (affiliate link) or Magnesia phosphoric is considered a homeopathic aspirin. Ailments needing Mag phos are usually better for heat and pressure.
7. Merc sol
Merc sol (affiliate link) or Merc v is excellent for sore throats when the person is sweaty and smelly. There is a marked increase of saliva, and their lymph glands become swollen.
8. Nux vomica
Nux vomica (affiliate link) is for an overindulgence of anything: sugar, caffeine, alcohol, television, etc. I always have this on hand during the holidays. It is also an excellent remedy for insomnia, especially when the person is irritable.
9. Pulsatilla
Pulsatilla (affiliate link) is another teething remedy when the child is weepy and thirstless. It is also great for the end of the cold when the mucus is creamy or green.
10. Sulphur
Sulphur (affiliate link) is a wonderful skin remedy, especially when sunburned. The person is restless, thirsty, and worse from heat.
Where Do I Buy These?
I always recommend buying them from a good source. I love Boiron’s brand for its ease of getting, a great website, and easy-to-find sales. If you purchase from Amazon, ensure you get it from the Boiron storefront and not a personal person. I also like Washington Homeopathics. They are a long-time company.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend buying a homeopathic kit. You will use every remedy in it! I purchased my first kit over twenty years ago and still have it. I have replaced a few bottles, but they will last inferentially. It is an excellent investment in your family’s health.
I wanted to let you know that I’m a participant in the Amazon affiliate program, and some of the links in this post are affiliate links. That means I might earn a small commission from Amazon if you click them and buy something, but it doesn’t cost you anything extra! It’s just a way to help support my site and keep the lights on.
