Homeopathy and Headaches

Headaches are annoying at best and debilitating at worst. Homeopathy can ease the pain of headaches quickly and with zero side effects.

I have suffered from headaches since childhood. My first one was when I was 8 years old. As a teenager, I would cancel plans with my friends because I was in bed in pain. As an adult and young mother, I learned to push through and continue with constant aches behind my eyes. I have probably consumed bottles of over-the-counter pain relievers. At one time I was treated for migraines with prescription meds. But those would knock me out and make me sleep for hours. Once I prescribed an anti-depressant for the migraines. It didn’t work. I still had headaches. That’s hard to deal with pain when you have small children.

The Good News and Bad News

Once I learned about homeopathy, I discovered some fascinating things and frustrating things about headaches and homeopathy.

The Frustrating

Healing headaches with homeopathy comes in layers. When I first started homeopathy, I expected it to act like OTC drugs….take a pill or two and in an hour or so, pain-free. That’s not how it went. I would find the remedy that best fit my symptoms, and it would help. But the pain seemed to change places. For example, I would have a headache that started at my neck and would go all the way up to my forehead. When I took the proper remedy, my forehead pain would release. But, I was still having pain in the back of my head and neck. I would read more books and find another remedy. I could then release the pain in the back of my head, but my neck would still be aching. Usually, I would get frustrated at this point that it was taking me 3 remedies for one headache. I would long for the days of taking two pills and be done for 4-6 hours.

The Fascinating

Then I started noticing a trend. The next time I had a headache it was much less severe but in the same place. Went through the whole process of peeling back layers again. My pain didn’t return in 4-6 hours like with the OTC drugs. But, every time I would get another headache it was less and less debilitating. I could even function with the pain, no problem!

I later found a wonderful remedy combo that I could take at the first onset of my pain and it usually would take the pain away completely! No layers to deal with. I mixed Belladonna and Picric acid in a bottle. It is usually instant relief! I keep a bottle in my purse and at home at all times.

The Healing Truth

The truth is that homeopathy healed the root of my headaches. I no longer suffer from migraines. My family no longer has to tip-toe around mom trying not to make any noise. There are more remedies that heal headaches that are more specific. I will tackle those in future posts.
