Y’all. It’s hot. Here in South Texas, grannies are baking bread in their mailboxes. People are cooking eggs on their sidewalks. Our lawns tried calling the fire department for help. It’s really hot. When it’s hot it can trigger heat headaches. It’s not known exactly why heat can trigger headaches. Maybe from dehydration, which is likely or they can be a signal of a dangerous heat stroke. Homeopathy for heat headaches is effective and safe.

Homeopathy is wonderful for treating headaches caused by different reasons including that of heat. It works effectively to relieve acute episodes of heat headaches and migraines from heat and helps people who are sensitive to heat. Additionally, it helps by gradually reducing the intensity and frequency of these types of headaches. The best part of opting for homeopathy is that homeopathic medicines work most naturally and there are no side effects of these medicines.

8 Remedies for Heat Headaches
There is a long list of remedies that are useful for this type of headache. In the past, when I have had one of these afflictions, I will admit to not being able to choose. The headache is too bad! I have learned to quickly find a remedy as soon as the headache starts and not wait. Because it will not go away on its own.
- Natrum mur – This is the premier homeopathic remedy for a heat headache. The pain is triggered by exposure to the heat of the sun. The pain is in the forehead, over the eyes, and on the top of the head. It feels as if a thousand hammers are banging around in or on the head. There may also be vision disruption and sensitivity to bright light.
- Glonoine – This remedy is also for a heat headache that is triggered by being in the sun. The pain is throbbing and the head feels congested. As if blood is rushing to the head threatening to burst. There may be nausea and vomiting with heat flushes. There is relief from sleeping. In cases where there is a constant headache all summer long, Glonoine is the best choice to uproot this tendency.
- Natrum carb – This remedy doesn’t need the sun. Just being in the heat is enough to cause a headache. The pain is in the forehead, sides of the head, and on the top of the head. At times the pain starts at the back of the head and extends to the top of the head. The pain is a tearing or stitching type of pain.
- Belladonna – This is a throbbing, pulsating type of pain. One of my daughters had a terrible headache after playing outside all day. She said it was “beeping.” The face is red and feels hot to the touch. The pain is worse from light, noise, eye movement, and stooping. There is relief from pressing on the head.
- Lachesis – This remedy is predominantly left-sided. Therefore, the headache is felt on the entire left side of the head. The head feels heavy as if it would burst. There is also a burning sensation on the top of the head. Unlike Belladonna, a heat headache that is worse from pressing on the head is better with Lachesis.
- Lycopodium – This remedy is predominantly a right-sided headache remedy. The pain is a tearing or stitching type of pain that extends down the neck from the right side of the head. It is worse from movement, but better by lying down.
- Gelsemium – This remedy is for a headache that begins at the back of the head and extends up to the forehead. There is a bursting sensation in the forehead and eyeballs. Additionally, the eyes seem to be partially closed due to the pain.
- Bryonia – This remedy is worse from movement. The headache is worse from any type of movement, even simply moving the eyes. The pain is mostly felt in the forehead and at the back of the head, and even extends to the shoulders.
Be prepared
This extreme heat is no joke. If you know you are going to be out in the heat be sure to have the proper remedies on hand. I made a small kit for my son when he started football practice. However, I can’t promise he ever used it, but it gave me peace of mind to know it was there for him in the heat.

Next Legacy Class
Heads up! My next Legacy class (beginner’s group) is starting in September. We will meet Mondays at 7 pm CST via Zoom. If you want to join my class and learn the basics of homeopathy, I encourage you to join. It’s inexpensive and has only 4 classes. You will learn the foundations of homeopathy along with others. The classes are recorded, so if you miss a class you can always go back and catch up. Follow this link to register and you will immediately receive an email linking to the curriculum.
Ooo, this is good! I haven’t personally struggled with heat headaches but several people in my family do so I’ll keep this in mind. Thanks for putting this resource together!
We’re sweating bullets in the extreme heat & humidity here, too!! And, we’re outside for frequent periods with work related activities 🙃
As always, perfect timing for your posts! Pulled together all of these to send with the hubs as he heads out to cut some logs in this heat!!
Blessings,
Nancy
