I had horrible growing pains as a child. My mom would wrap my string bean legs in warm towels until I could relax enough to go back to sleep. I was a tall, lanky kid (as we say in the South) and everyone said it was because I was growing so fast. I wish she would have known about great homeopathy is for growing pains.

What exactly are growing pains?
Growing pains are an ache in the legs, often the calves or the thighs. The pains usually occur at night and may even wake a child from sleep.
According to Mayoclinic.org there’s nothing that can be done for the child that wakes up crying because her legs hurt. I don’t like that answer. We can do better to help a suffering child.
What we can do
The homeopathic remedy, Calcarea Phosphorica, is the premier remedy for growing pains. It is made from Lime Phosphate. Usually, the child who needs Calc phos (a nickname given here in America) has trouble metabolizing calcium. The absorbing issues aren’t chronic. They are temporary as a result of a recent illness.
A keynote symptom for Calc phos is moaning. The child will moan, maybe even in her sleep, with the pain.
If your child wakes you up in the night to tell you her legs hurt, grab Calc phos and give her a dose. The next day give her one or two more doses. You and your sweet little one should have a better night’s sleep.
Adults can have some growing pains too
While adults don’t really suffer from growing pains like kids we do go through some pains while growing. I recently reworked my website and rebuilt it to have a blog. Since I am not a tech-type person, this was an incredible stretch for me. I have spent too many hours watching YouTube videos and Googling “How to build a website.” I am extremely proud of the work.
But, I realized I had forgotten one small detail. I had never connected my website email to my email. Basically, if anyone tried to contact me through the website, those emails were lost on the interwebs. Sorry about that! If you tried to contact me and never got a response, that is why. Generally, I am usually very responsive and quick to get back to those needing help. I wish there was a simple way to use homeopathy to ease the growing pains of starting something new.
I was sharing with my beloved sister-in-law the frustration of forgetting that detail. She told me that growing pains mean you’re growing. Indeed, I think that’s true. While there’s no evidence that growth in children actually hurts, it definitely can hurt when you’re an adult.
If you are just starting to learn about homeopathy and would like to take a class, look to my Legacy of Healing class. I am starting a new class in March and would love to have you there.
I also have a monthly study group, Pride of Healing, for those who have a solid homeopathy foundation. We meet via Zoom and discuss a wide variety of topics.
I’ll put this in my remedy journal! One of my children particularly struggles with growing pains so I’m sure we’ll try this out very soon.
And amen to the growing pains being a sign of growth!
Thanks.
